Intramural Sports

For those who enjoy playing sports in a relaxed atmosphere as a means of light recreation, intramural teams are a fun, yet competitive option. With the guidance of the Physical Education Department, students organize their teams and choose a captain to serve as the representative. The games are structured and officially refereed though the teams do not have coaches and generally do not practice. Most teams play 1-2 games a week for seasons lasting about 2-3 months. Barnard sponsors teams in: basketball, floor hockey, indoor soccer, tennis, lacrosse, and volleyball. Barnard students may also play on coed intramural teams organized by Columbia University.
