OUR CLASSROOMS

At the heart of the curriculum are the general education requirements, which help students analyze information, think independently, and express themselves effectively. As students advance, they choose from courses in areas as varied as Pan-African studies, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures, and urban studies. Such breadth affords considerable room for individual choice and for exploring multiple perspectives on global issues. Students are guided by dedicated scholars and teachers, such as Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Cultures Isolina Ballesteros, who notes, "The exchange of ideas is encouraged in every course, and the cultural and ideological differences of students and faculty are reflected in the topics of discussion as well as in the methodological approach." It adds up, she says, to an enriching academic experience.
