Sarah Belfer, Class of 2012, was born and raised in Manhattan. She graduated from SAR High School, and spent a gap year between high school and Barnard studying in Israel. She is considering History, Anthropology, Psychology, and Political Science as possible majors. Sarah is involved in the Columbia/Barnard Hillel and enjoys exploring the city, wandering around downtown, and discovering great stores. Sarah is very excited to be a Barnard Student Admissions Representative! |

Flavia
Bento de Faria, Class of 2010, was born in
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has lived in many places
including Brazil, Portugal, Venezuela, Ecuador, and
most recently Argentina where she graduated from Asociacion
Escuelas Lincoln in Buenos Aires. She is not quite sure
what she wants to major in, but for now is working at
making the best of New York City and Barnard. She enjoys
going out to clubs, museums, and restaurants in the
city, and she never misses an opportunity to go shopping!
In addition to working at Admissions she also works
at the Barnard Student Store. Her plans for the remaining
years she has at Barnard are unclear, but they will
certainly involve meeting many new people and doing
a lot of traveling. |

Lauren Aliya Berger, Class of 2011, graduated from the Hathaway Brown School and grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. She plans to major in English, since she loves analyzing the wealth of books at her fingertips, and minor in psychology, because she also loves exploring human behavior. On campus Lauren is active in the theatre scene. She’s on the student board of the Columbia Musical Theatre Society (CMTS) and performed in shows with CMTS and the Barnard Theatre Department. Lauren is also a full time acting student at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in their Evening Conservatory. In her free time, Lauren can be found reading plays and books, roaming around museums, seeing shows, taking dance and yoga classes, and exploring the cool and funky neighborhoods of New York City. |

Wesley Birdsall, Class of 2010, is from West Hartford, CT, where she graduated from William H. Hall High School. She is a midyear transfer student from Boston University and is thrilled to be a part of the Barnard community. She is planning on majoring in psychology. Aside from her position as a BSAR, she currently works as a member of the Columbia Spectator copy staff and volunteers in a kindergarten classroom at P.S. 165, a nearby elementary school. Wesley can most likely be found exploring the city – taking advantage of its museums, restaurants, and everything else it has to offer. |

Jessica Blank, class of 2012, was born in New York City before moving to Livingston, NJ, where she graduated from the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. She plans to major in Urban Studies and hopes to pursue a career in either the government or the non-profit sector. Jessica loves traveling and hopes to have the opportunity to spend a summer abroad in England. On campus she is an active member of the McAC Network Committee and the Columbia/Barnard Hillel. Jessica is so excited to be back in the city and taking advantage of all the cultural and community service experiences that only Barnard and New York City can offer. |

Reni Calister, Class of 2011, grew up in South Orange, NJ and attended Columbia High School. She plans on majoring in history with a minor in political science. Reni currently serves on the Student Government Association as the first-year class president and participates in the Columbia University Dance Marathon for the Elizabeth Glacier Pediatric AIDs foundation. In Reni's free time she can be found lounging on campus, finding free events throughout the city, going to theatres and museums, and finding the best cafes that New York has to offer. Reni loves Barnard, loves New York, and is extremely excited about everything. |

Aanya
Chugh, Class of 2009, is a senior at Barnard, majoring in Architecture. In addition to her fascination with the city’s interesting buildings, she enjoys photography, thrift stores, and scouting out the latest museum exhibits. A veteran BSAR, she is currently a TA for an introductory architecture studio and interns at a design firm downtown. Aanya feels that Barnard has truly allowed her to take advantage of being in a small college with New York City at its doorstep. |

Melissa Cohen, Class of 2012, comes to New York all the way from Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from Harvard-Westlake School.
Although not quite settled on what she wants to major in, she is leaning toward English or Psychology, with a possible minor in French. She would love to have a career that combines education with travel. Melissa is involved in many of the great activities at Barnard, including theatre on both sides of Broadway and being a Barnard Babysitter. Besides exploring the unbelievable city of New York, Melissa loves reading, singing and dancing, great Indian food, and Barnard! |

Nelly
Davcheva, Class of 2010, is from Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
She graduated from The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor,
CT, and is currently exploring the art history world
at Barnard. Nelly loves to travel back home to Bulgaria
and visit friends and family all over the world. One
of her biggest passions is learning foreign languages,
and after mastering Spanish, she has moved on to her
fourth language – Italian. At school she is involved
with the Barnard Bulletin (as a photo editor),
takes many dance classes, and is beginning her exciting
journey as an Admissions Representative. Nelly is thrilled
to be living in New York City; dressing up for dance
shows and for the opera rank high up on her list of
favorite-things-to-do. |

Sally Davis, Class of 2010, was born and raised in New York City. A graduate of the LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and Performing Arts, she specialized in vocal performance, in addition to playing the viola in the InterSchool Orchestra of NYC. Sally is a double major in Anthropology and Music, a unique academic path that has granted her the opportunity to continue following her musical passion while simultaneously learning about a completely new field. Her studies have brought her to the field of Ethnomusicology, an exciting area that combines her interests in ways she never knew possible. Sally plans to apply to law school in the fall, an endeavor which she hopes will lead her to a career in intellectual property or copyright law, so that she may continue to find ways of combining her loves of music, anthropology, and learning in general. |

Natasha Dhillon, Class of 2011, was born and raised in England and then moved to Delaware in 1999 where she graduated from Tatnall High School. She is considering a major in history, with a European or Asian concentration, and plans to study law after Barnard. She loves to travel, especially to Europe, and is hoping to study abroad in England. Natasha has a passion for dance and is member of a couple of dance teams including Club Bhangra and Dhoom, an Indian Bollywood dance troupe. She is very excited to be a BSAR and share her love of being a student at Barnard and also all the amazing opportunities of being a student in New York City. |

Jacqueline Dow, Class of 2010, is from Brookline, Massachusetts and a double major in English and Film Studies. She graduated from the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut, where she was a boarding student for four years. Jacqueline travelled to Italy this past summer where she studied the Italian language and enjoyed six weeks of delicious Italian cuisine. When she is not in New York City, she loves to be anyplace where she can see the ocean. At school, she is the Director of Programming for Columbia Television and a BSAR. In her free time, she loves to play the piano, which she is re-learning after a five-year hiatus, and go out to dinner with friends. She looks forward to sharing the endless opportunities that Barnard—and New York—has to offer. |

Aliza Perri Edelstein, Class of 2011, feels so honored to be a BSAR. Originally bred on the mean streets of New York’s Lower East Side, Aliza has lived in Weston, Connecticut, Palo Alto, California, and finally Newton, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Newton North High School in 2007. Aliza is a transfer student from the University of Richmond and in just one year has fallen madly in love with the Barnard community. As an Art History major with a Visual Arts concentration, Aliza rarely allows the weekend to pass without visiting the Chelsea galleries or one of NYC’s museums to which she has free admission, thanks to the Columbia Arts Initiative. She enjoys long runs down West End Avenue and eats (more than) regularly at all the surrounding neighborhood restaurants. Aliza is often found painting in the Barnard art studios and at Columbia Dance team performances happily supporting her friends. Aliza loves learning foreign languages and plans to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and somewhere to be decided in Italy. Aliza cannot encourage you strongly enough to apply to Barnard College. |

Anna Ehrlich, Class of 2012, was born in Ann Arbor, MI, where she graduated from Pioneer High School. As she is interested in the relationship between biology and psychology, she is considering a major in neuroscience and behavior. At Barnard, she is engaged in a training program which facilitates discussions between Jewish students and students of color. The program culminates in a spring break trip to New Orleans to help with the post-Hurricane Katrina relief effort. She is also an enthusiastic member of the Barnard/Columbia Swing Dancing Club and eager to start her new role as a Barnard Student Admissions Representative. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her fantastic friends, exploring different New York neighborhoods, and shopping. |

Dueaa Elzin, Class of 2011, is from Brooklyn, NY, where she graduated from Fort Hamilton High School. As of now, she is a potential political science major and pre-medicine student. She hopes to combine the fields of medicine and international politics/relations into a career that benefits the poor and underprivileged. She loves music, different cultures, reading The New York Times and New York City. Dueaa also loves to travel, especially back to Sudan, where her parents are from. As a BSAR, she looks forward to highlighting Barnard’s great academic atmosphere to all potential students. |

Anna Engel, Class of 2011, grew up in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from Yeshiva University High School of Los Angeles. After studying for a year in Israel, she is still exploring her options for a major, which may include anthropology, psychology, or English. Anna enjoys visiting her adopted bubbe (grandma), attending Hillel events on campus, and sipping lattes at Java City with her friends. As an avid Barnard fan, she is excited to share her love of the school with as many prospective students as possible! |

Alexandra Fields, Class of 2012, grew up in a suburb of Chicago and graduated from Adlai. E Stevenson High School. Alexandra graduated from high school a semester early and traveled to Sierra Leone, Africa to intern for a non-profit. Her graduating class was just under 1,300, so she loves the small close-knit community of Barnard. She plans to major in Creative Writing, and minor in Africana Studies, and eventually wants to have a job that lets her be creative. She also is looking forward to interning for Anthropologie this summer, doing window and display design. She is very thankful that her mom made her visit Barnard because she loves it and is so happy to be spending her four college years here! |

Lianna W. Fox, Class of 2012, has lived in Manhattan her entire life and felt strongly about attending college here. She studied technical theatre at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts where she stage managed many productions and played on the varsity basketball team for four years. Currently undecided about her major, Lianna enjoys studying Art History, English, and Comparative Literature. She also likes learning French, attending theatre productions, exploring museums, and hanging out with her friends. Other favorite activities are beading jewelry, predicting fashion trends, and playing basketball. Lianna, who is looking forward to studying abroad in France and possibly Italy, too, is a Barnard Babysitter and works at the Bank Street after school program. |

Kara Freewind, Class of 2011, graduated from Forest Hills Northern High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. At Barnard, Kara plans to major in English with a creative writing concentration and a minor in anthropology. One of her favorite things about Barnard is the fabulous internship she has with one of her favorite authors (who happens to be a Barnard alum). Kara also writes for a campus publication and has a show on WBAR, Barnard’s radio station. During her free time, Kara can be found napping, doing yoga at Barnard FITbear classes, or venturing off campus to enjoy New York City. |

Claire Frosch, Class of 2010, is a transfer student from Baker University in Kansas and is originally from Oklahoma. At Barnard she is majoring in Political Science and working on her Chinese language skills. She plans to get her PhD one day so she can become a professor and stay at Barnard forever. Currently, she is the Office Manager of the Barnard Bulletin and interns in the office of State Senator Daniel Squadron. She loves to travel and is excited about being granted the Tow Foundation Travel Fellowship so she can travel and conduct research this summer! |

Rebecca Hadley, Class of 2012, was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles and attended Claremont High School. She plans to major in French, and is excited about the prospect of studying abroad in a Francophone country during her junior year. Rebecca is most excited, however, about Barnard’s fantastic dance program, which allows her to take a dance class (or two) every day from incredible teachers! In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys walking around the city and visiting museums. |

Elizabeth Hertzog, Class of 2012, hails from Yardley, Pennsylvania. She recently graduated from the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. At Barnard, she sings in both the Bach Society chorus and the World Muse chorus. She performed in Donlin Foreman's modern piece for Barnard Dances at Miller in the fall. She also dances in Orchesis, a student-led group. Although she has not declared her major yet, she hopes to study Behavioral Neuroscience and possibly minor in either Music or Dance. |

Logan Hofstein, Class of 2011, was born in California but grew up in Savannah, Georgia, where she attended the Savannah Country Day School. In addition to living on both sides of the continental US, she has also lived in Germany. Her major is Medieval and Renaissance Studies with a possible German minor. She is a writer for the
Columbia Spectator and is Vice President of Columbia Quiz Bowl.
Because her beat is TV at the Spec, it gives her a nice excuse to take a break from studying and to watch her favorite shows. She will be studying abroad her junior year at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Her great love is reading and she hopes to go into publishing upon graduation. |

Kelly Holloway, Class of 2012, is from Washington, D.C. and graduated from Sidwell Friends School. She is considering studying Psychology, History, or Political Science. Aside from working as a BSAR, Kelly spends time doing community service on campus and is member of the Emerging Leaders Program. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing with friends, exercising, and exploring New York City! After Barnard she hopes to pursue a career in law. Kelly is very excited to work as a BSAR! |

Zoe Johnson,Class of 2012, grew up in sunny Los Angeles, California, and graduated from Harvard Westlake School. She has been an avid performer throughout her entire life and hopes to major in Theatre and English. Zoe absolutely loves Barnard and has taken advantage of everything this school has to offer. Last semester she performed in a Columbia Musical Theatre Society musical, and she is now currently involved in an internship with her Psychology teacher. She can be seen singing opera on and off campus, exploring new restaurants in NYC, going to Broadway shows and the Met, visiting museums, and studying at Lincoln Center with a cup of coffee and some classical music. She absolutely cannot wait to share her love of Barnard with prospective students! |

Emma Kako, Class of 2012, grew up in New York City and graduated from Stuyvesant High School. She has not yet decided her major, but it will most likely be either Economics or Psychology. Emma enjoys participating in many on-campus activities, particularly the amazing theatre on both the Barnard and Columbia campuses. When she is not on campus, she is in a park, at a museum, in a restaurant, at the movies, at a play, or just having fun walking around the city. |

Hilary Krase, Class of 2011, was born and raised in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and graduated from Cheltenham High School. She is majoring in Political Science. In addition to being a BSAR, Hilary is a member of McAC's Network Committee. She is also involved in planning Take Back the Night. Miriam
Manber, Class of 2010, was born and raised
in Riverdale, NY (just a quick hop north to the Bronx
on the 1 train!). She is a graduate of the Ramaz Upper
School in Manhattan, and is tentatively planning to
major in English, with a minor in biology. Besides her
new job in the admissions office, she sings with S’madar,
an all-female a capella group dedicated to both Jewish
and contemporary music. Her great loves include musical
theatre, creative writing, good literature, coffee,
and New York City. |

Colette McIntyre, Class of 2012, was a small town girl living in a lonely world until she took a Long Island Railroad train going to NYC. Now, Colette hosts a weekly funk show at Columbia's radio station until 5 in the morning, writes on anything she can get her fingertips on, and eats Indian food every chance she gets. She believe she will major in English, as the written word was her first true love, but wishes “Being Crafty” was a legitimate major. Colette dabbles in everything occurring at the College and truly loves being a Barnard woman. |

Gilli
Messer, Class of 2010, is originally a New Yorker, but grew up in Pacific Palisades, California, where she attended Palisades Charter High School. She is a junior majoring in Anthropology, an interest which manifests itself in her love of travel and foreign languages -- she speaks four! Gilli is also an avid singer, actress, and dancer, and has been seen in many productions on Barnard and Columbia campus. Throughout her college career, Gilli has traveled to Tanzania, Africa, with the Columbia Students of the World Team, and spent a semester abroad studying acting at the Moscow Art Theater in Russia. She hopes to combine all of her interests in her senior thesis this fall, which will focus on Performance Studies. |

Lindsay Orlov, Class of 2011, has lived in a total of eight states, including Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Hawaii, Connecticut, New York, and South Carolina. Most recently, she is from Newton, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, and she is a graduate of Newton North High School. Her intended major is psychology, with a possible double major in English with a writing concentration. When she is not studying or writing papers, Lindsay enjoys hanging out with her friends, babysitting for families in the area, and singing in the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. This past September, she participated in a First-Year Reach Out community service project at the Kraft Center. Lindsay loves Barnard and New York City and wants nothing more than to spread that love to prospective students! |

Dilruba Parveen, Class of 2011, is from Queens, New York. She graduated from the High School for Environmental Studies in Manhattan. She is planning to be an economics major. She is also very interested in South Asian history and hopes to somehow include that in her future plans. At Barnard, she is currently an official committee member of Club Dimensions and part of the Muslim Students Association, Club Bangla and Model UN. During her spare time Dilruba loves to spend time with her amazing Barnard friends, watch Bollywood movies, and visit her family. Dilruba is excited to be a BSAR. |

Rachel Peck, Class of 2012, is from Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated from Bexley High School. Still an undecided major, she is open to studying anything (except math). In her free time, Rachel enjoys her sorority, her internship writing for SEVENTEEN Magazine, teaching conflict resolution to 5th graders in Harlem (through PEACE by Peace), shopping, eating, hanging out with friends, going to the theatre, watching movies, and exploring her new city. |

Leah Perlmutter, Class of 2011, was born in New York City but has lived in Seattle, Washington for most of her life where she graduated from Ingraham High School. She has not yet decided on a major but has recently become very interested in anthropology. She likes to attend and take part in events put on by the College Democrats. She has also become involved in Barnard's theatre department and is very exciting about the performance training she is receiving. In addition to Barnard theatre, Leah loves to make use of the College Activities Office and go to as many Broadway shows as possible. She also frequents the museums and restaurants that the city has to offer. |

Tashmin Rahman, class of 2012, immigrated to America at age two and settled with her parents in a small neighborhood in Queens, NY. In 2008, she graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School as a biomedicine major, and is currently interested in pursuing a major in Psychology with a pre-law track. As a BSAR, she is anticipating the opportunity to reach out to prospective students and to convince them that Barnard’s close-knit family and rigorous academic environment will mold their intellect and skills for success. In the future, she wishes to study law in order to represent the minority population in New York City, but at the moment, she is enjoying her college experience and is exploring all the rich cultural and social activities that this city has to offer. |

Maisha Rashid, Class of 2010, is a Political Science major at Barnard College who will take any chance to tell everyone how much she loves her college. Maisha was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh and moved to New York when she was twelve. She considers herself a multilingual political junkie who is concerned about social justice and human rights. After working on Columbia Model United Nations, Mcintosh Activities Council, Barnard Student Government Association and the Barnard Committee on Instruction, she now occupies her time working as President of Columbia Model Congress and as Campus Editor of Columbia Political Review. |

Lauren Rothe, Class of 2011, is from Morris Plains, New Jersey where she graduated from Morristown High School. She has not declared a major at Barnard yet, but she is very interested in biology and the arts (especially music). Lauren is also a pre-med student and hopes to go to medical school after graduating from Barnard. Lauren loves New York City and going shopping and appreciates that Barnard provides the opportunity for her to explore the city and interact with people that help her become a better person. Lauren knows that with hard work her dreams of becoming a doctor will come true. |

Katie Salmon, Class of 2011, is a native of Buffalo, NY and a graduate of The Nichols School. Her major is still utterly undecided but she thinks she might be interested in comparative literature, architectural history or statistics. In her free time, she works as a programmer in the classical music department at WKCR, Columbia University’s radio station, sings second soprano in the Barnard/Columbia Chorus, plays the bassoon in a woodwind quintet on campus and does crew. She loves Anglican choral music, Victorian literature, nineteenth century British photography, and doing crossword puzzles as opposed to homework in the evenings. |

Viana Siniscalchi, Class of 2011, hails from Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, and graduated from Paramus Catholic High School. She is double majoring in English and Psychology with a possible Italian minor. Viana believes there are so many ways to get involved on campus and has dedicated herself to the Barnard Bulletin as Managing Editor and Columbia Television as an Assistant Producer and Correspondent, which allows her to see free movie screenings and interview actors and directors! Viana has been in love with New York ever since she was a young girl and truly treasures the opportunity to live in this city. When not on campus, she can be found in any museum, seeing a Broadway show, or checking out the different eateries. Viana is thrilled to be working for Admissions and wants everyone to fall in love with Barnard as she did. |

Sara Snedeker, class of 2012, was born and bred in New York City and graduated from Manhasset High School. She isn't quite sure, but might be majoring in Political Science with a possible minor in History. On campus, she a member of the Student Government Association as a representative on the Barnard first-year class council, and a member of the Greek community on campus as a new member of Delta Gamma. In her free time, she enjoys exploring all that the city has to offer, including endless restaurant choices and shopping! |

Sruthi Swami, Class of 2012, was born in Hayward, California and graduated from Saratoga High School. She is not yet sure of her major but is thinking of Psychology and Education with a possible French minor as she loves foreign languages. She is an avid dancer and in addition to dancing south Indian classical dance, she is also a part of the Columbia University Raas team. In her free time she likes to read books, take pictures of absolutely anything, babysit, and see as much of New York as she can. Recently, she has also discovered a newfound love for Greek and Thai food. Sruthi is super excited to be a BSAR and to be at Barnard and cannot wait to make amazing memories during the rest of college. |

Rebecca Tuchman, Class of 2010, grew up just across the Hudson River in Alpine, NJ. She graduated from the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in Hartsdale, NY, making her one of the only people whose college is closer to home than her high school was. She is a Double Degree student with Barnard and List College of Judaic Studies, and serves as the Double Degree representative on the List College Student Council. She is an American Studies major at Barnard, and is deciding between majoring in Talmud, Midrash or Liturgy at List (though she’s open to suggestions). Rebecca has been involved in numerous activities on campus, including Koach (in Hillel), Take Back the Night, and Everybody’s Wins Power Lunch program. She hopes to spend a semester or summer studying in Prague her junior year. |

Connie
Wang, Class of 2010, went to high school in
the liberal suburb of Lexington, Massachusetts. She's
an economics major and has an unhealthy obsession with
environmental science. She'll be using her 2010 diploma
and classroom wisdom to solve third-world economic crises.
Until then, she is the business manager for Postcrypt
Coffeehouse, a folk music venue on campus, and pulls
all-nighters producing the Columbia Daily Spectator.
In her spare time, Connie enjoys eating at her favorite
Indian restaurant on Bleecker Street and loitering at
modern art museums. |

Anna Ziering, Class of 2011, is from Newton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Boston University Academy. She is an American Studies major, concentrating on constitutional law and gender rights, but she also loves English, Psychology, and Religion. In addition to her job as a BSAR, she is on the board of Everyone Allied Against Homophobia, dances in Orchesis, and interns at the American Civil Liberties Union. In her free time, she reads, sings, sees Broadway shows, and attends as many Barnard events as she can. |
