Barnard represents more than a top liberal arts college to me.  As if with three campuses that include Barnard College, Columbia University and New York City, Barnard offers a combination of both women's and co-ed college experience as well as a combination of both liberal arts college and research university environment; it provides a unique mix of both vibrancy and tranquility and both rigor and ease; it keeps a sensible balance between the independent and fierce spirit encouraged in young women and the warm and supportive atmosphere embracing them.
