About the Office of the Dean of Studies

The Office of the Dean of Studies supports the academic success of all Barnard students. The deans on the staff are responsible for helping students make thoughtful and informed decisions about the completion of degree requirements. The four class deans serve as general resources for personal and academic support and assist with various rites of passage such as the declaration of major, the monitoring of academic standing, and commencement. Other deans work with particular groups of students, e.g., transfer students, students interested in particular graduate and professional study, students who seek extra academic support, students interested in study abroad and fellowship opportunities, and international students. Listed at the left are the main functional areas of the office: feel free to browse around!
