John Morrison

Assistant Professor of Philosophy

John Morrison

John Morrison, assistant professor of philosophy, joined Barnard’s faculty in 2009. His research is primarily focused on the philosophy of the mind and the history of modern philosophy, with an emphasis on 17th-century thought. His other research interests include the philosophy of language, epistemology, and logic.

Current projects include drawing onempirical psychology to explore the way we visually represent colors and locations; and investigating why Spinoza presents certain claims as axioms in his work, Ethics.

He was awarded the Frankel Fellowship from New York University. At Barnard he teaches courses on the philosophy of psychology, the history of modern philosophy, and logic.
