ANNUAL GIVING, DAILY IMPACT
Annual giving to Barnard provides critically important and immediate support that helps the College meet its current operating expenses. The Barnard Fund Society has been established to recognize and thank leadership annual donors whose generous gifts provide an unbroken foundation for the Barnard academic experience.
Barnard College was founded in 1889 to provide educational equality for women – a bold idea for its time. Although lacking a financial endowment, the College grew and flourished thanks to the dedication and generosity of its founders, and later, of its devoted alumnae and their families and friends.
Since gifts through The Barnard Fund are unrestricted, Barnard can apply the funds wherever the need is greatest – financial aid, faculty support, or campus renewal. This flexibility creates an environment where faculty and students have the freedom to develop their best ideas and talents.
Membership in The Barnard Fund Society is based on unrestricted gifts to The Barnard Fund that come in during a given fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
