We
invite you to join The Athena Society, a giving recognition
society at Barnard honoring alumnae, parents and friends who
have included the College in their estate plans. Taking its
name from the goddess of wisdom, long associated with Barnard's
motto, "In Pursuit of the Life of the Mind," The Athena Society
acknowledges these generous benefactors and their vital role
in ensuring Barnard's continued excellence.
Barnard
is deeply indebted to the devoted alumnae, parents and friends
who have made arrangements for deferred charitable contributions
("planned gifts") to the College. These planned gifts - in
the form of bequests, life
income gifts, charitable
lead trusts, retirement plans,
and life insurance policies
help ensure a bright future for Barnard. You become
a member of The Athena Society by making one or more of these
gifts.
By joining
The Athena Society, you benefit the College in two meaningful
ways: through your own gift and by inspiring others to take
advantage of these special ways of supporting Barnard.
Membership
benefits
The most rewarding benefit of membership in The Athena Society is the personal satisfaction of knowing that you have made a lasting contribution to Barnard's future well-being and that you will be an inspiration to others. Additional benefits include:
- You will be a guest of the College at selected lectures and events
- Your name will be published (subject to your approval) in the Athena’s Forum
If you
have already named Barnard in your will or made another kind
of planned gift, please let us know.
We appreciate the opportunity to thank you for your generosity.
