Business Analyst/Project Manager

The business analyst / project manager will serve a dual role.  The incumbent will be responsible for managing all phases of an assigned project from inception through completion.  The business analyst / project manager will work with key stakeholders to elicit and document business requirements and will also be responsible for managing all activities of an assigned project to insure overall success of the project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as the single point of contact for all assigned project delivery related activities (business requirements, risk / issue management, change management, escalation, scheduling meeting, etc.)
  2. Function as a liaison between BCIT and business users to successfully design, document, develop and deploy business deliverables on assigned projects
  3. Conducts business requirements review meetings with all stakeholders ensuring requirements are consistent with the approved project charter
  4. Work with stakeholders to capture and document current and future state process flows on assigned projects to understand and examine the gaps in the business processes
  5. Develop and implement detailed project plans and work assignments on assigned projects while monitoring progress to ensure that project deliverables are met
  6. Coordinate all project activities on assigned projects while collaborating with other IT groups, business partners, and external vendors as required
  7. Resolve problems concerning the assigned projects, contact vendors for support when necessary, facilitate resolution to risks/issues,  and resolve problems with key stakeholders through the appropriate escalation channels
  8. Proactively communicate and collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to analyze information needs and requirements to deliver a project that meets stakeholder satisfaction
  9. Assist in the creation of presentation slides, reports and websites  that will be used for project status, BCIT, and senior management
  10. Create and maintain accurate and current documentation for projects and BCIT
  11. Act as a project management subject matter expert for guidance and support on projects for other Barnard staff who are involved in projects
  12. Support the owner and project team with quality assurance and testing efforts to ensure deliverables are deployed with the highest quality standards
  13. Additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of Project Management Office

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Systems Analysis, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Business Analyst role, preferably IT (may be concurrent with Project Management experience)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Project Management role, preferably IT related
  • Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills; experience and comfort with Project and Visio
  • Must be able to write, communicate, facilitate, and present clearly to all levels within the College
  • Must to be able to synthesize large amounts of information into clear business requirements
  • Essential to work both individually, face-to-face in a team environment, and virtually when working with external vendors
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while having the ability to shift work seamlessly when priorities change

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with writing and editing using web based content management system (e.g., Drupal and/or SharePoint)
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and driving vendor deliverables
  • Prior experience in a large organization or Higher Education settings a plus; ability to apply prior experience to a highly collaborative college in a university setting, required
  • PMP certification or working towards PMP a plus
