Coordinator for Academic Affairs

Barnard College seeks a Coordinator for Academic Affairs to provide administrative support to the Office of the Provost and academic programs and committees.  Reporting to the Vice Provost, the Coordinator supports all major faculty committees, including review and submission of material, meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, minute taking and preparation of necessary reports. The Coordinator, Academic Affairs, also coordinates New Faculty Orientation; plans, coordinates, and implements a variety of projects including academic program reviews; compiles, edits and produces publications for the Office of the Provost which appear on-line and/or in hard copy. Publication responsibilities include a Faculty Newsletter, the Faculty Handbook, the Chairs’ Manual and the College Catalogue.   The Coordinator works closely with all academic departments and liaises with other key departments in the College, such as the Offices of the Registrar, Dean of Studies and Communications, and with Columbia University regarding tenure reviews. 

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of related experience preferred. Excellent computer skills are required, including Word, Excel, e-mail, and web software, as is initiative to acquire new computer skills as technology evolves.  Requires excellent math, writing and verbal skills including an ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public while maintaining professional tact and confidentiality.  Must be well organized, prepared to meet deadlines, and able to work independently, with meticulous attention to detail.
