Phishing Alert: Job posting scam targets college students

Four employers to date have targeted students from Barnard College and other institutions with "phishing" scams, including:

  • Alvarez & Marsal Holdings, LLC
  • Amy Cambier
  • Cargill Incorporation
  • Hope Star Charity
  • Liberty Home Concepts

Additional employers to look out for are:

  • Abco Roofing
  • ADPT Corporation
  • Centopsheer Arts Company
  • Deer Park Company
  • Digital Extremes
  • Tilojasoft Consulting Group (TCG)

If you see a position in NACElink and/or receive an email from an employer that you believe to be a scam, please notify the Barnard Career Development immediately.  Phishing scams attempt to trick students into providing sensitive personal information (i.e., social security numbers and credit card/banking details) or into sending money or other items of value.  These scams come in many forms and disguises, including:

  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Online schools and training centers
  • Fraudulent sellers
  • Emails about being a contest winner
  • Disguised online portals or web-mail services
  • False Users of Social Networking Sites
