INAUGURAL REMARKS
Frances Sadler '72
Representing the Alumnae
Good afternoon. My name is Frances Sadler, Class of 1972, and I am president of the Alumnae Association of Barnard College. President Spar, it is my great pleasure and distinct honor to bring you greetings from the alumnae. These remarkable daughters, sisters, mothers, aunts, nieces, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, wives, and partners who share the experience of being educated by the exemplary faculty and each other at Barnard College welcome you into our special community as the 7th President of Barnard College.
For months now the question from my Barnard sisters has been: “Have you met her? What is she like?” Barnard women everywhere are anxious to meet you and to hear about your vision for the College. They are poised to ask you a gazillion questions about your research, your professional life, your education, your family, your hobbies, your favorite foods, your views about anything and everything. In short, they want to know all about you so they can make you part of us.
As you continue to meet alumnae across the country, you will see that Barnard has produced women who are playing a crucial role in every area of the life of their communities to make the world a better place for us all. Since we are in this magnificent church building, it seems appropriate to use the jargon of church stewardship. We, the Barnard alumnae, pledge our time, our talents, and our treasure to helping you achieve the vision you have for our College.
Welcome, Debora. 31,400 times.
