As stated in the Barnard College Catalogue:
Credit for the first semester of an elementary language is not normally granted unless a more advanced course is completed, a student is granted one exception maximum to this rule on written request to the Registrar.
To request credit for an elementary language course you plan on taking without also taking an advanced level course, fill out the Request for Exception to the Elementary Language Rule form and submit a printed copy to the Registrar's office.
