Mac OS X natively supports SFTP through the Terminal Utility Application. However. Fugu is an SFTP application that is much simpler to user. You can also download it from the Columbia website.
Although Fugu is pretty to use and Columbia's official recommended SFTP client, it is not the only file transfer program you will ever need. Fugu does not support FTP, so if you are trying to transfer files to a server that does not support secure file transfer, you won't be able to use Fugu. Here are some alternatives to Fugu:
This is a very brief introduction to transferring files. There is a more detailed set of instructions specific to using a program called WinSCP, but the principles are the same. So if you are unfamiliar with SFTP, it would be helpful to read the Configuring WinSCP page even if you plan on using Fugu instead of WinSCP as the principles are the same in both applications.

Although Fugu has a pretty simple user-interface, it is not the most flexible program and it doesn't support FTP (it does support SFTP), so if you are trying to transfer files to a server that does not support secure file transfer, you won't be able to use Fugu.
