NINJa Printing Information

Barnard College and Columbia University use the NINJa Printing System, a controlled printing system that allows Barnard students and faculty to print a certain number of pages from Library and Lab printers for free.

How to Use NINJa: When you print from either a lab printer or a personal computer configured to print to NINJa, the document is actually sent to the NINJa workstation that accompanies every printer. After printing, highlight your UNI at the workstation, press Enter, and then enter your password to release the document to the printer. If you print from your personal computer you will have to highlight your computer's name and enter both your UNI and your password to release the document. If you would like to read more about NINJa, please consult the Columbia University Information Technology page on Printing at Columbia.

Print Quota: Barnard students receive a printing quota of 100 pages per week and 100 "reserve" pages each semester. See more information on Print Quotas here. If you exceed the weekly quota, you may qualify for a printing exemption. Check the Printing Exemption page for more information.

Specialty Printing Services

Resume Printing: Barnard Resnet offers resume printing services in the LCC for Barnard students. Please consult the Resume Printing page for more information.

Color Printing: NINJa printers only print in black and white. To print in color, you may contact Document Services, located in 13 Milbank.

Personal Printers: Students are welcome to bring personal printers to Barnard. However, Barnard Resnet ACEs are not trained to troubleshoot personal printers. If you are experiencing a problem with your personal printer, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the individual printer. When purchasing printers, please take into account that wireless printers will not work in dorms with secure residential wireless.
