Now in its fourth year, the Athena Film Festival — a celebration of women and leadership — is an engaging weekend of feature films, documentaries and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world. All-access passes are on sale now. 

Athena Power Talks welcomes Sheila Nevins, president of HBO Documentary Films, for a conversation with Barnard President Debora Spar.

Join us for the launch of the Barnard International Artists Series, featuring the filmmakers behind 5+5, a documentary about how ordinary people and artists negotiate life in today's China. 

The Africana Distinguished Alumna Series honors Ntozake Shange '70, with a screening and discussion of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, the film version of her Obie Award-winning play.

A documentary premiere about the integration of a white high school in Mississippi in the late 1960s, and the African American students who, 40 years later, were invited to their class reunion for the first time. Lee Anne Bell, Barnard’s Barbara Silver Horowitz Director of Education, was the executive producer of the film.

This second annual convention will highlight the everyday experiences of Black Germans through panel discussions, performances and film.

Barnard welcomes the celebrated playwright, essayist, actor, and activist as he ponders some of the most intriguing issues of our day.

Anindita Banerjee will discuss two translations of an unusual text of the 15th century — the travelogue of a Russian merchant, which is punctuated and even overwhelmed by its religious invocations to Allah and the Prophet Mohammed.
