New Position Honors Pulitzer Prize-winning Writer and Former Barnard Board Chair

As Barnard prepares to celebrate its 125th Anniversary, the College and its rich history will be featured in a WNET Treasures of New York documentary hosted by alumna and award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon '88.

“As the father of two daughters, President Obama wanted to speak to some of America’s next generation of women leaders,” a White House official said.

Total applications surpass 5,000 for the first time in history.

The First-Year Class Dean will give a brief review of the process and procedures for the upcoming advance program planning for Fall 2011, as well as an overview of the timeline for the rest of the semester. There will also be new information regarding your upcoming summer (taking summer courses, staying on campus during the summer, finding and funding summer internships), as well as information from the Athena Center.  All first-year students should plan to attend one of these meetings. Dean Kuan Tsu will discuss important upcoming deadlines, the major declaration process, and summer course approvals.  You will also learn about fellowship, internship, and study abroad opportunities.  All sophomores should plan to attend one of these meetings.

The Barnard community welcomes back to campus Dean Avis Hinkson '84 who begins her role as Dean of the College on Monday, February 14.
