Captured Motion: The Art and Science of Human Movement Research

Human motion-capture technologies have expanded ways of understanding human behavior, experience, and perception. Chris Bregler, a leader in the field of motion capture research, discusses its latest innovations. He is professor of computer science at New York University’s Courant Institute, director of the NYU Movement Lab, and CEO of Manhattan Mocap, LLC, whose research involving modern dancers, U.S. presidential candidates, Olympic athletes, and crowds has been featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Scientific American, National Geographic, and many other outlets. Paul Scolieri, associate professor of dance at Barnard, moderates.
