In North America, the Office of International Programs has approved Study Abroad programs in Canada and Mexico.
Recently, a Barnard faculty member took students on a short term research trip to Mexico.
Barnard students have also researched in Mexico through international student fellowships and scholarships.
Barnard participates in domestic exchange programs with Spelman College and Howard University.

Elizabeth Wade, Barnard College '08 used her awarded Tow Fellowship to research "Spanglish" literature in Tijuana, Mexico. She conducted numerous interviews with local authors and artists, which gave her a unique perspective on this cultural product and helped shape her senior thesis on Rafa Saavedra, a contemporary author who draws on both Spanish and English in his work.
