Reporting to the President of the College, the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment will have College-wide responsibilities for institutional research and assessment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating data gathering from students, faculty, staff, and alumnae through the application and development of surveys and related tools; communications information pertaining to institutional research and assessment to a wide variety of constituencies; determining priorities for data gathering and reporting for each academic year; determining policies and procedures for the role-based sharing of data; interpreting College data and making policy and planning recommendations to the senior administration and other constituencies; training members of the campus community about best practices for the retrieval and usage of data; and serving as the campus contact for external organizations involved in institutional research. The Director will also work closely with Institutional Research and Assessment Committee (IRAC) and other campus committees as needed to develop protocols for data sharing and to establish priorities for institutional research and assessment.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline with five to seven years of experience in institutional research and assessment in higher education. They must have extensive experience with both database management systems (including the extraction of such data) and analyzing and interpreting complex data sets. Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with an emphasis the ability to explain complex data analysis to a diverse set of constituencies. Knowledge of state and federal requirements for the gathering, reporting, and dissemination of data from higher education institutions is essential.
