For the Fall 2011 Extended Barnard Reach Out program, participants took part in a West Harlem Walking Tour, traveled to Brooklyn to volunteer at a community farm, visited the office of Free Arts NYC and City Year, led a workshop for girls at the Read Out Loud! Family Literacy and Book Festival in Harlem, and more!
The New York City Civic Engagement Program is proud to announce that the Fall 2011 Extended Barnard Reach Out group received Columbia Community Service’s Virginia Xanthos Award, which is given each year to a campus group in recognition of the work that it is doing in the local community.
