Media Relations

Barnard’s Media Relations team works to raise the profile of the College by identifying and promoting people, events and news in our community.  Whether we are focusing on faculty research or spotlighting student success, we publicize achievements through targeted press outreach and a strong online presence.

We also serve as a liaison to media—pitching stories, fielding media inquiries, coordinating logistics for interviews, providing pre-interview prep, accompanying faculty to broadcast studios, monitoring for coverage, and providing media training on an ongoing basis.

Additionally, we develop stories for Barnard’s website and other publications, and monitor for interesting news about students, faculty and alumnae.

In conjunction with the Provost’s office, we help manage the Faculty Expert website, which includes profiles of faculty members listed in the College’s Course Catalogue and serves as a resource for journalists seeking academics to comment on topics in the news.

Student Recognition

Barnard students are promising and high-achieving young women with interesting stories to tell about their academic work as well as their lives outside of the classroom. The Media Relations team works to highlight student projects and achievements through online features, stories in the alumnae magazine, and outreach to media.  If you would like to suggest a student we should consider featuring, please email mediarelations@barnard.edu, providing details of the story idea as well as the name and contact information of the student.
