Juan Gabriel Vásquez is a Colombian author and our inaugural BIAS fellow living in NYC during the fall 2019 semester. His most recent novel, The Shape of Ruins, was "shortlisted for the 2019 Man Booker International Prize." His previous work, The Sound of Things Falling, was awarded the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. Juan Gabriel resides in Bogotá with his family.
