Become an SGA Club

SGA's Vice President of Student Activities (VPSA) oversees all of SGA's 80+ recognized clubs and their activities for Barnard's community. Please contact VP for Student Activities, Sarah Steinmann, at ses2194@barnard.edu with any questions.

SGA recognizes clubs in the following five categories:

• Cultural
• Performance
• Pre-Professional
• Publication
• Special Interest

Benefits of SGA recognition include:

• Booking space at Barnard
• Access to event services, audio-visual services, catering, and security at Barnard
• Publicity at Barnard (including hanging a banner in front of Barnard Hall and flyering on campus)
• Club advising through the Student Life Office at Barnard
• A yearly budget allocation from SGA (Stage II only)

*Note: About half of SGA's clubs are dually recognized by the Activities Board at Columbia (ABC). Clubs that are dually recognized have SGA recognition benefits as well as ABC recognition benefits. SGA will not recognize a club that is similar to another group that already exists within SGA and ABC.
