Beyond Barnard Mentoring Program
Beyond Barnard facilitates a range of mentoring relationships among students, and alumnae, parents, and friends of the College. Our objective is to build meaningful and transformational supportive networks that advance the diverse aspirations of Barnard students. There are several ways to get involved with mentoring programs at Beyond Barnard:
Barnard Connect
Barnard Connect is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Using this platform, students can arrange to meet once per month throughout the academic year (either in person or virtually) with a Barnard alumna and/or participating Barnard parent. Mentors and mentees discuss career exploration, talk about getting a start in a career or graduate school, and check in about their progress through Barnard. Beyond Barnard matches more than 200 student and alumnae/parent pairings across academia, industries, nonprofit organizations, the arts, and government. Alumnae are also able to act as "on-call" mentors, providing one-off answers to questions via the Barnard Connect platform. Questions? Email beyondbarnard@barnard.edu.
The Shvidler Fellows Program
The Shvidler Fellows Program connects a select cohort of Barnard College students with industry leaders. Over the course of the academic year, Shvidler Fellows are invited as a group of ~20 students to a series of Executive Sessions at top-tier businesses, government entities, and nonprofit organizations. Fellows have the opportunity to hear their personal stories, learn about diverse sectors and industries, and make valuable connections with leaders. Students can learn about upcoming opportunities to apply in Handshake. Questions? Email beyondbarnard@barnard.edu.
Mentors-in-Residence
Beyond Barnard invites alumnae back to campus to spend a day conducting informal, 30-minute advising and informational sessions with small groups of students. Students can learn about upcoming events in Handshake.
