At Beyond Barnard, full-time staff and Peer Career Advisors are available to meet with students and alumnae for 50-minute advising appointments. Walk-in hours are posted at right. Students and alumnae can also schedule an appointment at Handshake.
Whether you intend upon on pursuing a career in academia, industry, nonprofits, or government, we are here to support all students and alumnae of Barnard College. Advisors can discuss topics ranging from career exploration, to job document preparation, graduate and professional school applications, networking, interviewing, negotiation, and a lot more in between. In addition to our generalist advisors, Beyond Barnard's Pre-Health Advisor is on staff to provide support to individuals thinking about medical school, dental school, and a range of health professions.

Self-assessments can help you determine which careers are best suited for you by taking stock of your skills, interests, personality, and values. At Beyond Barnard, you have the opportunity to take the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory. If you are interested in taking an assessment, please make an appointment with a Career Advisor.
Need a quick review of your resume or cover letter? Have a question you need answered? Stop by Beyond Barnard on the Second Floor of Elliott Hall for a 15-minute appointment with an Advisor. Drop-in advising is available during the Academic Year from Monday through Friday, 12-2PM.
Speak to one of our specially-trained student advisors who, just like you, is balancing student life and professional development. Stop in and get advice on career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and job search strategies, exploring Handshake, and more. Peer Career Advisor meetings are available on a walk-in basis, from 10AM-5PM, Monday through Friday (no appointment necessary). PCA's are not available during the summer.
