Beyond Barnard hosts a variety of workshops, events, and mentoring programs to help students and alumnae develop essential skills and knowledge. Our programming covers career themes, experiential education (including student jobs, internships, externships, etc.), fellowship discernment and best practices, and applications to graduate and professional school. From career exploration to negotiation; from resumes and CV's to interview best practices and negotiation; and from year-long mentoring to single panel discussions, Beyond Barnard provides access to insights and expert advice.
Students and alumnae can log into Handshake to get started and view upcoming events. Our programming includes, but is not limited to:
Beyond Barnard regularly invites panels of alumnae to return to campus for off-the-record conversations about getting a start in their chosen career field. Our objective is to provide a sense of the range of careers for which a Barnard education provides preparation.
The Beyond Barnard Mentoring Program
Beyond Barnard's distinctive Mentoring Program matches current students with alumnae for ongoing professional mentoring throughout the academic year, and Beyond Barnard will support these mentoring relationships with orientations, training sessions and group events. Each mentored student will have the chance to see inside an industry or organization she is interested in through the eyes of an alumna who knows it best.
