Meet the PCAs:

Kathy Yuan, '18
Hi everyone!  My name is Kathy Yuan and I am a senior here at Barnard majoring in Statistics and minoring in Art History. In my spare time, I love to visit museums and explore the city (and especially to search for authentic/tasty hole in the wall restaurants… those are definitely the best). This past summer I interned as an analytics intern for Willis Towers Watson, an insurance brokerage firm. While there, I was able to work on some pretty neat things, like coding the models that brokers use to analyze risk and create appropriate insurance structures.

Becoming a Peer Career Advisor has been an incredible experience that has provided me with multiple opportunities around and off campus.  My favorite part, however, is being able to interact with students and share tips and advice with them.  Beyond Barnard is a gold mine of resources and knowledge, so don't be afraid to take advantage!

Rachel Tsuna, '18
Hi, y’all. My name is Rachel Tsuna and I’m a senior majoring in economics and minoring in biology. I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee and have still not gotten used to the cold weather. Over the summer, I interned for a month at a law firm in Central Florida and the rest of the time at a hearing aid startup named Audicus based in Fidi (yeah, a startup in Fidi…go figure), where I still work part time during the semester. In my free time, I enjoy long walks on bridges, seeing movies at the Angelika, and going to comedy shows with friends.

The Career Development office has been my second home for the past 2 years, and I’m so excited to spend my third year as a PCA!

Aisha Hasan, '18
Hello, my name is Aisha Hasan and I'm a senior majoring in chemistry and minoring in computer science. I'm originally from Houston, TX where I was born and raised. I'm a huge fan of finding little coffee shops around the city and hosting dinner parties for my friends. This past summer I worked at Goldman Sachs as a summer technology analyst in the NYC/Jersey City office. I'm excited to pursue the tech field after graduation and am passionate encouraging women to join the field.

The career development office has been like a second home to me on campus. I started off as the front desk attendant my sophomore year and will now be a PCA for you guys. I've had the honor of working with the career counselors who are always ready to help. Feel free to stop by the office if you have any questions regarding technical resumes/ interviews or any other field!

Isabel Weiss, '18
I'm Isabel, a senior from Portland, Oregon double majoring in Economics and East Asian Studies. Around campus I'm involved with the Chinese Students Club and work in the Admissions Office. I am also a varsity athlete on Columbia's Swimming and Diving team, diving 1m and 3m springboard. During my time at Barnard, I've had internships in a variety of industries ranging from Fashion to Tech to Finance. This past summer I worked at Goldman Sachs on the trading floor in Hong Kong. The experience was a perfect way to combine technical skills from my Economics major with language skills and cultural understanding from my East Asian Studies major. The whole summer was very engaging - I learned something new every day. When I graduate, I will return to work at Goldman.

Barnard Career Development has been an invaluable resource during my time here. This dedicated team has taken me from my very first resume draft to a full-time job offer. As a PCA I want to ensure that Barnard students know that no matter their career goals, there is always a way that Beyond Barnard can help.

Hannah Fischman, '18
Hi! My name is Hannah Fischman and I am a senior majoring in Political Science with a special interest in political and economic development in nations. Aside from working this year in the career development office, I am also the President of the Columbia Real Estate Society. This past summer I worked as an investment banking summer analyst at Nomura Securities on their Real Estate team. I specifically worked with casinos and resorts which was awesome! During my other summers as a Barnard student I worked in business development at Vimbly,  a neat tech startup in New York City, and before that at Roc Nation as a production intern.

The Career Development office has been a major help for me, specifically as I was starting out in the job interview process. The Office has helped me hone in on my interview skills and feel more confident and I encourage all of you to utilize its resources!

Sydney Malsch, '18
Hi! My name is Sydney Malsch and I am a senior from Westchester, NY majoring in Economics and Math with a minor in Psychology. During my time at Barnard I have interned in both the fashion and finance industries. In addition to interning off campus, I am a member of Smart Woman Securities. This past summer I interned at an investment management firm, PIMCO. After having such a great experience, I am accepting a full-time position after graduation.

Barnard Career Development has been an incredible resource to me and I am looking forward to helping others as a PCA this year. I can’t wait to share advice and help other students achieve their career goals!

Carolina Gonzalez, '19
Hi! My name is Carolina and I’m a junior majoring in English and minoring in Art History. Aside from working at the career development office, I’m the Beauty and Health Associate Editor at The Barnard Bulletin and have been published in other on-campus publications such as Hoot Magazine and Echoes. During my career at Barnard, I’ve worked as the Fashion News Editorial Intern at Elle Magazine, the Beauty Intern at Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, and the Editorial Intern at Remezcla - a Latino centered media outlet. I’ve enjoyed exploring the fashion, beauty and publishing industry while taking part in cool creative projects such as organizing Harper’s Bazaar’s 150 Best Beauty products.

Barnard’s Career Development Office has empowered me through out my internship search while imparting essential skills to navigate the career market. As a PCA, I want to pass down that empowerment to other Barnard students so they feel bold and beautiful when stepping into an interview or filling out an application!

Keerthana Jayaseelan, '19
Hello to all! My name is Keerthana Jayaseelan, from the Bronx, NY. I am a junior, majoring in Biology, with a Cellular and Molecular Concentration and minoring in History. I love to watch movies, listen to music, and doing DIY projects, during my free time. Over the past summer, I was a research assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Columbia University Medical Center, as part of Barnard’s Summer Research Institute. I have been at my lab for the past year and plan to continue to work there throughout this academic year, as well. In addition, I will serve as the Vice President of Barnard’s Network of Pre-Medical Students.

Barnard’s Career Development has been an essential part of my experience in college. I was a student worker, assisting the counselors in numerous events, such as Careers and Coffee and the Tech Conference. I fell in love with the office and all the great people and was inspired to become a PCA. As a PCA, I hope to help students achieve their career dreams!
