Con Edison Summer Internships in Science

Con Edison, which has provided electric service in most of New York City and Westchester County for more than 180 years, has been instrumental in providing much needed financial support for internships for promising young women at Barnard College for many years.  Con Edison is committed to supporting women who are seeking careers in the sciences.  This program will sponsor internships or research experiences in the following fields:
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Science
  • Computer Science
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Physics 
  • Mathematics
  • Education (Math and Science)

A secure internship in NOT necessary to apply, however the research/internship experience must be a full time position (30+ hours) lasting for a minimum of 10 weeks.  Students will receive a stipend of up to $4,725 with possible access to college-subsidized housing*.  Students will engage in regular meetings/activities during the summer.

Eligibility:

1.      Underrepresented women (African-American, Latina, or Native American) with a preference to those with low income.

2.      Full-time Barnard undergraduates during the summer of 2018 (Classes 2019, 2020, and 2021).

3.      Internship must be in New York City or Westchester County only.
