Off-Campus Community Service Jobs
Beyond Barnard believes that placements at community-based organizations are mutually beneficial: they provide non-profits with the brilliance, energy, and talent of Barnard students, and they allow students to gain invaluable real-world experience in social impact work. However, far too often non-profits do not have the funds to compensate students for their vital work. Community Service Jobs change that by allowing students to use their Federal Work Study Funds at social impact-focused, career-building part-time jobs at nonprofit organizations.

America Reads / America Counts Program
America Reads / America Counts is a federally funded program designed to bring resources to schools and education programs to ensure all students are achieving at grade level in reading and math. Barnard students are matched with local public schools and community-based after school programs, and serve as tutors to children. If the tutors have received a Federal Work Study award, they will be paid an hourly rate. Otherwise, students are welcome to volunteer as tutors.
