Barnard College is pleased to announce Leslie Grinage has been hired as the new Dean of the College. A Search Advisory Committee involving faculty, staff and students was formed for the selection of the new dean. The College retained the search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist in the process.
Leslie Grinage will report directly to President Sian Leah Beilock and, as a senior college official, will work closely with the President in determining student-related strategic goals and policy. The Dean collaborates with colleagues across the College and University communities on student matters. The Office of the Dean of the College comprises the following areas: The Office of the Dean of Studies; Registrar; Beyond Barnard (jointly with the Provost’s Office); Campus Life; Residential Life and Housing; Health and Wellness; and Title IX and Equity.
The Search Advisory Committee queried the campus community on what qualities and experiences they hoped the new Dean would bring. The search process included committee meetings to review the candidate’s materials, interviews by the committee, and for finalists, on-campus visits that included conversations with a broad range of campus constituents.
