Being "International" at Barnard: A Panel Discussion on Teaching, Learning, and Institutional Belonging
Over ten percent of Barnard students are international and/or multilingual. That’s a large percentage of the student population in all classrooms across the disciplines. But how is Barnard serving this population, and what can Barnard do better? Through a discussion centering Barnard international students, this panel provides a transnational perspective on diversity and inclusion efforts on campus, helping to envision classroom practices that embrace both the shared and contradictory experiences of Barnard international students.
All Barnard students, staff, and faculty are welcome. Food and drinks will be served.
This panel is part of a collaborative initiative led by the Barnard Writing Fellows Program, First-Year Experience Programs, First-Year Writing Workshop, International Student Services, and Barnard Global. It is funded by a Barnard Inclusion Grant, a new initiative of Barnard’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion created to finance projects and events that help enhance inclusion efforts across our community.
