BLUE Chats is back this semester to promote a safe, empowering environment where students can sit back, relax, and share whatever they wanna share. And if you’d rather keep your camera off and just listen, that’s cool too! Join us Wednesday, February 17th at 7pm where we will break down choice feminism over the years and what it truly embodies today, and who it truly represents. By sharing poems, tik toks, tweets, and videos we hope to get a better understanding of the problems surrounding choice feminism in neoliberal spaces. From “white women moments” to the “girlboss” phenomena to completely excluding marginalized communities of women from these spaces, do we really choose the situations we are in, or are they simply a result of the systems of oppression put in place to keep us there? How do we challenge these power dynamics? We know this seems like a lot to digest but together, we will break it down and have plenty of fun discussion, maybe even a little ranting, about it! This is a time to learn, share a variety of ideas, and have a good time in the midst of a stressful and odd semester. Hope to see you there!
