Her groundbreaking article “Why America’s Black Mothers and Babies Are in a Life-or-Death Crisis,” in the April 2018 New York Times Magazine, spearheaded a movement to examine the disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality outcomes, including the creation of a commission to research this subject in New York state. The discussion will consider the impact of these disparities and contemplate what the future holds.
