Dancers and choreographers have a unique challenge when balancing their art with the conversation of boundaries and lived experiences because of the intense physicality of the medium. Join Being Barnard as we discuss how performance, rehearsals, and the audition process all play a role in the consent discussion and engaging in meaningful discussions about boundaries can expand our artistic vision and create more inclusive communities. This program is the first in a series of programs for dancers based on a Consent in the Arts program presented in the Fall 2018 Semester. While knowledge of the content will be helpful, attendees need not have attended the Fall 2018 program. Portions of this program will be hands-on and movement based (with participants consent) - please arrive prepared to move if you wish to participate in those portions of the workshop to whatever extent feels comfortable to you.
