The Deportation of Innocence

A film screening and discussion
Wednesday, November 2, 2016
6 PM
Event Oval, The Diana Center

As the debate over immigration rages on in the U.S., Francisco Alarcon’s unflinching documentary, The Deportation of Innocence, asks what happens to children when their parents are deported. Focusing on the stories of four children and their Mexican immigrant families, it illuminates the struggle of immigrant families and the long-lasting effects that such expulsion has on their lives. After the screening, Alarcon will take part in a conversation with Claudio Lomnitz, director of the Mexican Studies Center at Columbia University; Alyshia Gálvez, director of the Jaime Lucero Mexican Studies Institute at CUNY; and Rafael Alarcón of the Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Mexico.
