The Muse's Voice series celebrates contemporary women composers and their vocal and instrumental chamber music. The evening begins with a panel featuring composers Rain Worthington and Kala Pierson, followed by a performance of their music by the Barnard-Columbia Chamber Singers and instrumental soloists. Worthington's compositions have been performed around the world, from Iceland to Brazil, Japan to India. Self-taught in composition, her catalog includes works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, duos, solos, and miniatures. Pierson is an American composer and sound artist. Vivid, expressive, and full of bold colors, her music has been performed in more than 30 countries on six continents, widely awarded and commissioned, and published by Universal Edition.
