Leaving College Housing

If you have any questions, please contact Residential Life & Housing at housing@barnard.edu or visit http://barnard.edu/reslife/.

IF YOU WILL BE STUDYING ABROAD IN THE FALL (OR FOR THE FULL YEAR)

You will need to submit a Housing Cancellation Form to the Res Life office before the deadline listed at https://barnard.edu/reslife/cancellations#study-abroad.

If you will be waiting for acceptance from your study abroad program after that deadline, please arrange an extension in advance with the Res Life office.

Please contact your roommates/suitemates to let them know of your Study Abroad plans. Another student will be assigned to the space you vacated for the academic year (i.e. someone from the Wait List, a new transfer student, etc).

IF YOU WILL BE STUDYING ABROAD IN THE SPRING

If you are currently living in on-campus housing for the Fall, you will need to submit a Housing Cancellation Form to the Res Life office before December 1.

If you will be waiting for acceptance from your study abroad program after December 1, please arrange an extension in advance with the Res Life office.

Please note that you will need to check out of your room by the end of the Fall semester (i.e. start of Winter Break). Students who are studying abroad for the Spring are ineligible to apply for Winter Break Housing.

Please inform your roommates/suitemates of your Study Abroad plans as soon as possible, so they can arrange to recruit someone to request to fill your spot by applying for a Mid Year Room Change or by applying for Spring housing (i.e. someone returning from a Fall Study Abroad, etc).
