Read an interview with Stephanie Staal '93, whose new book explores feminist texts she first encountered as a Barnard student. From Guernica:

"When Stephanie Staal first took Fem Texts, a class during which she studied classics from Mary Wollstonecraft’s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman to Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique to Erica Jong’s Fear of Flying, she was a 19-year-old college student at Barnard and it was the early ‘90s. When she went back to reread those same feminist works in that same Fem Texts class still offered at Barnard, she did so as a wife, mother, and freelance writer. Reading Women: How the Great Books of Feminism Changed My Life (Public Affairs; Feb 22) is the product of this experience."
