A week and a day: one more full week of classes plus one last class day on Mon 5/2 and the SP'11 term officially ends — with finals beginning on Fri 5/6 and running through Thu 5/12. Thanks to all of you who stopped by ODS to talk with Susan L about your TAFs by the deadline of Fri 4/22 — and please note that as per the email reminders sent to all students — as of now you will need to make any and all finals arrangements with your professors. Best of luck from all of us on your course-studying, paper-writing and test-taking — and don't forget to take some deep yoga cleansing breaths on a regular basis throughout the coming weeks!
The last day for our ODS Writing Fellows In Residence (WFIR) will be Wed 4/27 for in-office WFIR Madeline—and Mon 5/2 for private/roving WFIR Talia. We hope that the WFIR program co-sponsored by the Writing Center and ODS has been helpful to you this semester—and we look forward to continuing to work with Writing Center Director Pam Cobrin—and to WFIR in ODS once again in AY2011-2012.
Calling all fans of massage therapy—both veterans and newcomers alike! As ODS does during the reading period at the end of each term—we will be sponsoring a day of free massages on Wed 5/4 from 10am-5pm in the Fit-Bear Room, tunnel level of Barnard Hall. As veterans know—these are 30 min sessions (25 minutes with a 5-minute cool-down)—and sign-ups begin on Tue 5/3 with open sessions booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions get booked quickly— and must be scheduled in-person in 105 Hewitt—so don't forget to set your alarms and come to ODS beginning at 10am on Tue 5/3 to be sure to get a wonderful stress-busting session!
Congrats to all of our graduating seniors—and don't forget to call Susan L at 212/854-4634 to set up your Senior Exit Interview (15-20min) with either Okie (all LD/ADD students) or Susan Q (all others) before you leave Barnard for the summer. These brief meetings are very helpful to us in planning new services—so thanks in advance to all of you for coming in to see us.
If you borrowed any items from ODS during the SP'11 term—please remember to return them to ODS no later than Thur 5/5 so we can close out our Borrowers Book for AY 2010-2011.
Has there been someone this semester—professor, staff member or student—who has been particularly helpful, supportive or creative in responding to your disability-related needs? If so, please nominate them (as many as you like) for a DARA from ODS. This award is our way of thanking members of the Barnard/Columbia community who have supported the mission and goals of ODS: to provide an inclusive and accessible environment for all. Please stop by ODS to complete the very brief DARA nomination form—or just send us a quick email with the name of your nominee and why you'd like to nominate her/him!
