On June 22, BLAIS staff members were given the opportunity to don hard hats and tour the construction site of the new Milstein Teaching and Learning Center!
Construction staff are currently working on the installation of the building's exterior walls, and we had the chance to walk from LL1 of the new building, where the Barnard Archives' stacks will be located, all the way up to the 5th floor, where the Milstein Center will connect to Altschul Hall. We saw the future space of library offices, stacks, and workspaces, as well as the green roofs that will be accessible from the lower floors of the building.
Thank you to R. J. Panda, Project Manager, who showed us around!
The Milstein Center, which is scheduled to open in August 2018, will include spaces for the Barnard Library and the Digital Commons, classrooms, staff offices, the Athena Center, the Barnard Center for Research on Women, as well as a number of social and study spaces for students.
