More than 100 Barnard students have spent their summers in labs on campus and around the New York City area, working with faculty mentors on a wide variety of research projects. On Friday August 1, they shared their progress and findings during the inaugural Summer Research Institute Poster Session. From measuring arsenic in Bangladesh's ground water, to testing effects of chemotherapy on the taste receptors of rats, their presentations were the capstone of the College's Summer Research Institute. Building on Barnard's long and successful history of faculty-student research collaborations, this newly enhanced program brought together the campus science community from across disciplines for academic and social events throughout the summer.
