Barnard and Columbia are very fortunate to have made it through Hurricane Sandy without damage to the campus or immediate neighborhood. But members of our community, and many people and organizations across the region, continue to face hardship and will be dealing with the storm’s repercussions for months to come.

Barnard Reach Out: Post-Hurricane Sandy Riverside Park Clean-Up PROJECT AT CAPACITY

Columbia/Barnard Hillel Trip to the Rockaways or Staten Island

Columbia University’s Kraft Center is working with UJA-Federation to mobilize students to volunteer in either the Rockaways or Staten Island. A bus will leave from the Kraft Center (606 West 115 Street) at 12pm. Volunteers will clear out basements and homes to help families prepare to rebuild. A bagel brunch will be provided. If interested in helping, complete the online sign up sheet.

Clinton Foundation Day of Action, Barnard College Team PROJECT AT CAPACITY

The Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative are taking action to support communities in New York, by bringing people and organizations together on November 18 for a Day of Action for New York. The organization is seeking to mobilize 1,000 people to make a meaningful difference in an area hard hit by Sandy. Volunteers will spend a day volunteering either on Staten Island, the Rockaways, or Long Beach. The Clinton Foundation will provide transportation to and from the service site.
The Barnard Civic Engagement Fellows are currently organizing a Barnard College Team to participate in the Day of Action. Anyone interested in joining the team should complete this internal registration form. Also, complete this online registration from available at Clinton Foundation’s website and write “Barnard College Team” in the “Organization/Company/School” field.

2012 International Charity Santa Dash for Hurricane Relief
