Every year, more than 200 Barnard students study abroad in more than 35 countries. From China to Italy to Guinea, they gain insights into different cultures, view global issues from new perspectives, and broaden their intellectual studies.

An annual photo competition celebrates the best images from their international experiences, as well as the more local experiences of students studying in New York with Barnard's Visiting International Student Program. The contest, known as SNAP (See New Abroad Photos), awards prizes in four categories related to the study-abroad experience: intellectual exploration, personal growth, global issues, and cultural comparison. Check out the slideshow below to view all of the award-winning photos. Click on each photo to read the story behind it. Scroll down for the list of first-place winners.
