Sandra Lilia Velasquez Dos Santos holds a BFA in music from California Institute of the Arts and an MA from New York University. Originally from San Diego, CA, Velasquez moved to New York City in 1999 to become a part of the vibrant music scene in New York City. She is the founder of the critically acclaimed latin band Pistolera, it's bilingual family spin off Moona Luna, and has recently embarked on a solo career under her intials, SLV. Her solo debut EP was produced by ten-time Grammy nominee Meshell Ndegeocello. With her various projects she has released five studio albums and toured in six different countries. She has been featured on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series, Billboard Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone Mexico, and shared the stages with Los Lobos, Lila Downs, and Vieux Farka Toure. She was awarded the grand prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Latin category in 2012. She was been the Dance Department Administrator since 2001.
