Currently matriculated Barnard students in good standing who will be enrolled at the College for the Fall 2019 semester are eligible to apply for summer housing.
Students who graduate in May 2019, visiting students, and/or students not currently enrolled (i.e. students on leave or requesting to return for Fall 2019) are not eligible to for summer housing. Students who take a leave of absence will cease to be eligible and must vacate summer housing.
There are a limited number of spaces available, so summer housing (or assignment to a particular room type) is not guaranteed. Priority will be determined by a combination of date of application, class year, whether students are applying for both or just one of the summer sessions, and whether they will be living in campus housing for Fall 2019 or not.

Summer housing is available for the following term periods:
- Summer Session 1 – 10am on Monday, May 27, through 12noon on Friday, July 5, 2019
- Summer Session 2 – 10am on Sunday, July 7, through 5pm on Friday, August 9, 2019
- Both Summer Sessions – 10am on Monday, May 27, through 5pm on Friday, August 9, 2019
Housing may also be available (see below) for the following interim periods. Students must submit an additional separate application for each interim period. No students are automatically provided interim housing.

The prices above do not include the $50 application fee.
Non-air-conditioned will be available in 600 W 116th St. and air-conditioned rooms will be available in CG, Plimpton, & Elliott.
Please note that the number of rooms with air-conditioning (especially doubles) will be extremely limited and students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible if they wish to request AC. Please note that students may not possess, install, or use window or portable air-conditioners in any rooms/buildings.

Students will be automatically billed a non-refundable $50 application fee on their student account when they submit the online application. This fee, as well as charges for summer housing, will be payable to the Barnard Bursar office (015 Milbank).
Note: once a student completes the online Housing Application, they will be subject to the Cancellation policy and schedule below.
Please note that while students may request roommates (for double rooms) through the application, assignment together cannot be guaranteed. Students who wish to live together are encouraged to apply as early as possible, mutually requesting each other and prioritizing the same types of requested rooms. Students may not be able to be assigned together if they request different lengths of stay (ex. one students requests the entire the entire summer and the other only requests Session 1 or 2). Requests for suitemates cannot be accepted.
Disability Housing Accommodations
Students with a diagnosed disability who need disability-related housing accommodations (ex. AC) must submit a Disability Housing Request to the Disability Services office no later than 4pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Students are required to reapply for accommodations each summer, even if they have received an accommodation in the past (or have already submitted a request for the following academic year). Late requests will likely not be able to be accommodated.

Summer room assignments for students living on campus for Summer Session 1 are anticipated to be emailed to students by 10pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Students not moving in until Summer Session 2 will be emailed their room assignment by Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
Note: the Res Life office will reach out to students earlier if there is no available in the room type / building combo(s) they preferenced, to give them an opportunity to provide additional preferences or cancel their application.
There is no Summer Room Change Request process and requests for roommates are not guaranteed. Requests for suitemates cannot be accepted.
Summer housing charges will be placed on student accounts in mid-to-late May (and will be viewable on my.Barnard.edu). Charges will be payable to the Bursar office by the deadline provided by the Bursar office. Failure to pay your summer charges in full could result in loss of summer and/or academic year housing.
Students will be able to sign for their room keys and check into Summer Session 1 housing between 10am-6:45pm on Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Res Life office (110 Sulzberger). Only the student themself may sign for their room key(s); friends and family may not check-in on behalf of a student.
Note: students who are in May Interim Housing must be checked out of their interim rooms by 5pm on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Students who sign up for Summer Session 2 only will be able to sign for their room keys and check in between 10am-6:45pm on Sunday, July 7, 2019.
Any student whose summer room assignment has not yet been cleaned by the Facilities office by the start of Summer Session 1 or 2 may be required to move into a temporary room (in Reid Hall) until their summer assignment is available.
Students who wish to move in later than the first date of either Summer Session may do so, but they may only check in and get their keys when the Res Life office (110 Sulzberger) is open (9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday; closed on holidays) and must be checked out of any interim housing by the deadline given.
Note: campus offices will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2019, for Independence Day. Check-ins are not available on that date.
The cost for Summer Housing will not be prorated as a result of checking in late. Requests to check in early cannot be considered.
Students only staying for Summer Session 1 (but not Session 2) must check out by no later than 12noon on Friday, July 5, 2019.
Students in housing for the Both Summer Sessions or only Session 2 must check out by no later than 5pm on Friday, August 9, 2019.
When moving out, students must complete a check-out envelope at their residence hall front desk, in order to turn in their room keys & Summer ID Card. Students who fail to turn in their keys & Summer ID will be charged for an improper check-out as well as key replacement fees ($100 per key).
The cost for Summer Housing will not be prorated as a result of checking out early. Requests to check out late cannot be considered.
