Dear Members of the Barnard Community,

The Barnard campus will move immediately to Barnard ID access only. No guests, including in the residence halls, will be allowed to come onto campus, and all in-person events on campus are canceled.

Early this morning, a group of protestors occupied Hamilton Hall on the Columbia campus. According to Columbia, access to Columbia’s campus at this time has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life. All other employees have been directed to work remotely. The only access point into and out of campus is the 116th Street and Amsterdam gate.

All offices at Barnard College will remain open, but some services will be provided only on a remote basis. Dining halls, residence halls, the Barnard library, and health services (Furman Counseling and Primary Care Health Services) will operate as usual, providing services in person. Facilities and CARES (emergency and non-emergency) will also remain available to assist those on campus. Senior staff and supervisors will communicate with employees about staffing and remote work in their areas.

Access to some campus buildings may be further restricted.

We thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding. We will continue to update you with more information should there be additional changes to campus access today.

Sincerely,
Kelli Murray
