Reunion was incredible! To those who attended, I hope you had a truly special experience. Over the years, Reunion has been the event where I’ve met some of my favorite people and made some of my most cherished memories. For example, I give thanks every day for these two phenomenal Barnard College alumnae friends who encouraged, supported, and believed in me long before I knew what was possible: Margarita “Ari” Brose ’84 and Amy Lai ’89. I met you over 20 years ago at Reunion, yet I cherish and remember how you made me feel like it was yesterday.
Thank you for welcoming me. Thank you for including me. Thank you for making me feel my involvement mattered.
To everyone I met at this year’s Reunion — whether we had a short or long conversation, took a selfie together, or hugged — thank you for being part of my Barnard journey. And I hope to continue to be part of yours, so let’s stay connected!
We can always meet in person at one of the many Barnard alumnae events that take place throughout the year. Our regional alumnae clubs are very active and dedicated, and they ensure that, no matter where you live, you’re never too far from your Barnard family. Look up the club in your area and drop in to say hello. They’ll be happy to see you! And if you can’t make it in person, try Barnard Communities, the online platform that enables you to connect with classmates as well as other alumnae in your area. I use it, and yes, it’s easy and fun!
No matter which way you prefer to connect, I welcome all of my Barnard family, and I hope to include all. And most importantly, my wish is that you know that your involvement matters! It matters to your fellow alumnae, and it matters to the students who are following in our footsteps. We are always #BetterTogether.
On that note, the AABC Board of Directors recently wrapped up its year by welcoming our newest members — elected by you. I’m so excited to work with these #Bold #Beautiful #Brilliant Barnard alumnae in the year ahead! And I’m really looking forward to Leadership Assembly on September 12 — please know that all are welcome there. You don’t have to be involved in the AABC, you just need to be a member of the Barnard family. So mark your calendars, bring your ideas and energy, and let’s help to make our community the best it can be!
I wish all of you a safe and enjoyable summer, filled with the spirit of Reunion.
With gratitude and respect,
Sooji
