Lifelong Well-Being

At the heart of a liberal arts education is the question of what it means to lead a life well-lived. At Barnard, students engage with this question every day inside the classroom, as well as in the context of co-curricular and leadership activities. We take a decisively and distinctively integrated approach to being well. And we support students and alumnae alike as they articulate their own definitions of mental, physical, financial, professional, and lifelong intellectual well-being. A Barnard education challenges each individual to think critically about what it means to flourish now and throughout one's life.

The Francine LeFrak Center

The Francine LeFrak Center is a 40,00 sq. ft. facility in the heart of Barnard Hall dedicated to physical, mental, and financial well-being. With a state-of-the-art fitness center,  spaces for mental and financial well-being programs, and a 250-seat theatre, it stands as a wholly distinctive facility in higher education.

Well-being is a necessary prerequisite for learning, for self-reflection, and for lifelong success. Barnard's distinctive community is built on a foundation of critical reflection on what it means to be well — mentally, physically, intellectually, financially, and professionally — throughout one's life.
