Antonio Viera
Lecturer of Psychology
Antonio Viera is a social psychologist whose research explores the importance of cognitive
and motivational factors in the judgments and attitudes we form regarding individuals,
social groups, and persuasive messages. His recent and forthcoming publications center
on better understanding the social categorization of perceptually ambiguous groups and
our capacity to systematically process counterstereotypic and persuasive information.
Dr. Viera earned his B.S. in Psychology from Florida State University and his Ph.D. in Social
Psychology from Indiana University. At Barnard, he teaches courses including Behavioral
Research Methods and Analysis, Social Psychology, and a seminar on social cognition.
